Key Achievements
Dr. Mullasari Ajit Sankardas is a renowned interventional cardiologist with over 30 years of experience in the field.
He currently serves as the Chairman of Cardiology at the Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases, The Madras Medical Mission (MMM), Chennai—one of the largest tertiary care cardiac centres in the country.
Under his leadership, MMM has become a major referral hub, attracting patients from across India and over 27 countries worldwide.
Dr. Mullasari has played a pivotal role in academic training, with one of the largest National Board programs in Adult and Pediatric Interventional Cardiology and Electrophysiology under his guidance.
The institution also hosts international fellows and observers from Africa, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh.
To date, more than 60 DNB cardiology candidates and over 20 FNB trainees have successfully completed their training under his mentorship.
With experience of over 25,000 interventional procedures, Dr. Mullasari is widely recognized as a leading expert and is a sought-after speaker at major international cardiology conferences.
He serves as an examiner for the National Board of Examinations in Cardiology and for the PACES examination of the MRCP (UK).
He has authored more than 229 publications in leading national and international journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM), Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC), Nature Reviews Cardiology, and Circulation.
Dr. Mullasari is the Course Co-Director of India Live and the Course Director of the Imaging & Physiology Council of India (IPCI).
He has also been instrumental in initiating the TN-STEMI Program in partnership with the Government of Tamil Nadu.
